Welcome to blog help for PHY 122! Here's how it works. For each homework question and lab report we will make a post, this will probably contain a few tips on what the problems are about and how to solve them. If you are stuck on something then instead of emailing us directly you should post a comment in reply to the relevant post. We will try to guide you through tough points and help you understand the problems and the concepts behind them.

Not about the homework, just wanted to say that most students seem to enjoy the recent change in lecturing style that occurred on Thursday 10/14/10. It definitely helps to be given all formulas before a clicker question is asked. This makes the problems much easier to understand. Thank You!
Thanks for the useful comment.
In lecture today you accidentally ended the second clicker question early, not giving anyone any warning as to when it was going to end. Can you grant us credit for it?
I don't understand number 9. I doubled the resonance frequency to give the equation (1 /(pi x sqrt(LC)) for the operating frequency. Then I used this to solve for XL Xc and then impedence. I found Irms using Vrms/Z = Irms. Then I used the formula average power = Irms ^2 x R. I keep getting the wrong answer.
